Family Home Group

Brian and I have hosted family homegroups before, but we are starting our first family homegroup at Vineyard Campbellsville this week. We have advertised, invited people face to face, sent texts, and wrote facebook posts to invite others to our home. We have "fished" for our homegroup. That's what you have to do, afterall. You can't expect people to feel welcome to come to your home unless you ask them, right?

So, now we are planning what our homegroup will look like. We have some ideas. We know that we want to include the kids, no matter their age or experience. We do not want to send the kids in another room to play, while the adults worship God together. We really want to encounter God as a family, young and old together. This takes some creativity and patience. I don't know how its gonna play out, especially for our 1 year old and 3 year old.

Since this is an experiment of sorts, a friend of mine suggested that I do a live blog about it. Our homegroup will meet on Tuesday nights, then I will blog about the experience on Wednesdays. Some weeks I may have deep insight about worshiping together as a multi-generational body. Some weeks I may be able to tell you what a complete mess we made out of the night. It could get interesting.

If you have ever been involved in a family home group, please feel free to share your story with us by commenting below. We welcome ideas about how to creatively teach and encourage a room with so many different age groups. If you have ever thought about having a multi-generational homegroup, stay tuned each Wednesday to see what we're up to. This is gonna be fun.
