New Baby Coming Soon!
We are expecting our third child in mid-March (2015). We already have a son and daughter and we are proud to announce our third child is a girl. We are planning to name her Noa Kathryn and call her Noa Kate. This name has so much significance to us. We felt like God told us about this little girl and her name long before we got pregnant.
Noa means “movement” and is a very popular name in Israel for girls. Most Americans are very familiar with the boy named Noah (the one who built the ark and played with animals). However, I am a Theology masters diploma holder and I didn’t know about the girl named Noa found in Number 27.
Noa and her three sisters lived in a time when women were property, not property owners. If a father died, his estate was passed to his son and if there was not a son, then it went to a nephew. It didn’t matter if there was a widow or daughters left without an inheritance. Noa’s father died and she and her sisters had the courage to go to Moses and ask for their father’s inheritance.
Moses took the matter before the Lord and the God said, 7 “The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father's brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.**8 **And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter” Numbers 27:7-8.
Noa and her sisters changed the law. They started a movement.
Kathryn is Brian’s mother’s name. We love her, of course, but she is not the only reason for our daughter’s middle name choice. Name’s meanings are very important to us. Kathryn means “purity”. Therefore, when you put Noa and Kathryn together, our daughter’s name means “a movement of purity”. Isn’t that beautiful? And, it’s meaningful to us. We believe that love is the most important thing in the world and what the world needs now is a movement of purity to revive her lost love.
We bless you Noa Kathryn. We love you so much already. God told us you would come before you were ever created. He had you on His mind and we are honored to bring you into the world and love you and parent you and watch you grow. You don’t have to do anything to change the world. Your presence is a sign and a wonder that will be recognized with very little effort on your part. May you live a long, healthy life, full of grace and wonder. May you taste and see that the Lord is good and never desire another lover more than Him. -Mommy
